having nothing to say when posting

Ok sorry if I'm going to sound pissed but I am. Not quite at this but among other things. I absolutely hate when I post to a topic particularly in geeks are us and I get people who post and have absolutely nothing to say. One of those people is rat. People hear me clearly right now because it just pisses me off. My time is valuable and don't feel like reading posts with nothing in them. things like "oh I don't know" and thats all they write. Trust me when I say I've done my homework. When I say I've done it i've done it. I'm not some stupid 10 year old who knows nothing. If you have nothing helpful to say don't bother answering my posts at all save it for someone else. Ok, sorry about that but it just really pisses me off. Don't try to be like a want to be. this goes for all the other people out there who know nothing. Learn from the smart ones, don't spoil it with drivall. I'm sure that there are others who feel the same way. If you are stuck in the mindset of Vista is the greatest os in the whole world when I can guarantee you will be of no use. Sorry to those who are my friend and like vista but come on get a grip here.

wow!
I must say that was harsh.

Post 3 by CSection (Out standing in my field.) on Wednesday, 19-Mar-2008 15:59:10

I have absolutely nothing to say. lol.

Post 4 by Albanac (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Wednesday, 19-Mar-2008 16:08:59

Yeah know what you mean. I'd comment too but ... well I just point blank refuse to. Except this. Surely, though that in itself is paradoxical though? I mean if you have nothing to say, as nothing is, well, nothing, then nothing will be said. Not even nothing! If however you have "nothing" to say, as in have got to say the word "nothing" then you have something to say! So the only ones who have nothing to say, are the ones who dont' post anything at all! So this means then, that you are pissed at everyone who doesn't post, rather than, as you said, the people who post, "nothing"? Or do I have it wrong...?

Simon, that was beautifully put!

well simon I just have nothing to add to what you've already said.

Huh? Was you trying to say something?

Post 9 by purple penguin (Don't you hate it when someone answers their own questions? I do.) on Wednesday, 19-Mar-2008 19:18:42

I was trying to prove a point. My last post was, really, nothing.

Post 10 by motifated (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Wednesday, 19-Mar-2008 20:08:22

I couldn't add anything to this. This is well-said, and I won't continue to add characters, words, phrases, sentences or paragraphs.

I could be another smart ass and say nothing, but I agree with the original post. If I come on here and post a question in geeks are us or another topic, I am looking for an answer. When I check the boards and see that my question has garnered some responses, I am disappointed when the replies are "I don't know" or similar dribble. If you don't have an answer or helpful comment, then go respond to someone else's post.

Post 12 by Nem (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 19-Mar-2008 20:34:09

While the first poster might have been harsh, I have to agree with him and Becky. I do like to get helpful responces when asking questions. I believe I have seen rat give some helpful advice to people looking for help though. That's my two cents.

yes, but, to post that you don't know does serve a purpose - it bumps the topic further up the boards so it's more likely to be seen and responded to? no?

on other websites I've visited it's very common to post "don't know/can't help you but bumping for you". what's wrong with that?

Post 14 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Thursday, 20-Mar-2008 11:17:17

Good idea. I like the idea of bumping things back up to the top, I just never thought of saying "don't know" as a way to do it. But sometimes some good questions/topics go off the first page way too fast while stupid things stay around forever.

Post 15 by Squiggles (Account disabled) on Thursday, 20-Mar-2008 11:19:00

if we didn't have all these bullshit posts it would making fiding an answer to a question a hell of a lot faster. This is my point. Personally, even though it may sound harsh, I skip over all the small fry topics in any topic area because to me they aren't important. I help where I can, however I don't like beeting a dead horse on things easily found on google or the like. The more I can be helped the more chances it will be that I can help others. If you seriously don't know, great, I don't care don't tell me because I really could give a damn.

I agree with the notion that I-don't-know answers to questions you've posted could be disappointing. I also agree with the methodology for such post that was expressed in post thirteen. At the same time, given how you've handled those who have tried to post on your behalf in the past, I think there'll be a few more inane responses in your zone posting future. lol

Post 17 by margorp (I've got the gold prolific poster award, now is there a gold cup for me?) on Thursday, 20-Mar-2008 14:16:32

We must remember that "nothing" is not the same as "no thing."
Something is always bound to be something.

Post 18 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Saturday, 22-Mar-2008 0:16:44

Dude, that was a bit harsh. I agree with post 17 though.

Post 19 by Squiggles (Account disabled) on Saturday, 22-Mar-2008 15:43:18

Harsh or not I make a point. For post 17, that kind of made no sense.. No thing is no object as is nothing you can't have something or some thing some object if there is no thing. if there is no thing, then there is really nothing.

Post 20 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 23-Mar-2008 3:42:04

it was a joke.
